EKKO Title’s Institute of Continuing Education (ICE)
EKKO Title established the Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) to serve Virginia real estate professionals seeking to stay informed of the latest industry trends and resources. ICE courses help agents build skills and earn designations and certifications that separate them from the competition. All EKKO ICE courses contribute toward the required continuing education topics and hours necessary for realtor license renewal.

Virginia Real Estate Board Continuing Education and Post-License Education Requirements
Experienced Salespersons and Brokers
Experienced salespersons (who have renewed a license at least once before) and Brokers are required to complete Board-approved Continuing Education courses to renew or activate a license.
Experienced Salespersons are required to complete 16 hours of Continuing Education. This includes the required Continuing Education subjects listed below with the remaining 8 hours in Real Estate Related Subjects (electives) or in the required subjects.
- Three (3) hours in Ethics & Standards of Conduct;
- Two (2) hours in Fair Housing;
- One (1) hour in Legal Updates and Emerging Trends;
- One (1) hour in Real Estate Agency; and
- One (1) hour in Real Estate Contracts.
Brokers are required to complete 24 hours of Continuing Education. This includes the required Continuing Education subjects listed below with the remaining 8 hours in Real Estate Related Subjects (electives) or in the required subjects.
- Eight (8) hours in Broker Management & Agent Supervision;
- Three (3) hours in Ethics & Standards of Conduct;
- Two (2) hours in Fair Housing;
- One (1) hour in Legal Updates and Emerging Trends;
- One (1) hour in Real Estate Agency; and
- One (1) hour in Real Estate Contracts.
Newly Licensed Salespersons
Newly Licensed Salespersons must complete the Post-License Education requirement. They do not need to complete the 16-hour Continuing Education curriculum required of other experienced salespersons.
Newly Licensed Salespersons must complete 30 hours of Post- License Education within the first calendar year of receiving a salesperson license to remain in active status. The 30-hour program consists of the eight course subjects listed below.
1. Fair Housing, ADA and Civil Rights (two hours)
2. Real Estate Law and Regulations (eight hours)
3. Ethics and Standards of Conduct (three hours)
4. Current Industry Issues and Trends (two hours)
5. Agency Law (three hours)
6. Contract Writing (six hours)
7. Risk Management (three hours)
8. Escrow Requirements (three hours)
